It is mandatory for the applicant to have his skills assessed from the correct assessing authority and to submit the details about this assessment. The different assessing bodies are VETASSESS, CPAA/ICAA /IPA, Engineers Australia/AIM,TRA,ANMAC,ACWA, ACS, SSSI, AIQS, AVBC, AIMS,AITSL, AIR, ANZSNM, OCANZ, APharmC, ADC,OTC,APC, APodC/ANZPAC,SPA, Medical Board of Australia, ANMAC,SLAA, NAATI,TRA etc.. Certain occupations may have additional licensing and registration requirements. It is the duty of the candidate to research and find out if any such additional requirements are to fulfilled. He must find out the correct means of fulfilling all the mandatory requirements if he wants his application to be selected.

Before selecting a particular occupation the candidate must check the status of that occupation. The candidate will normally find any one of the following status:

  • Available means occupation is available for nomination
  • Restricted means occupation is under review and invitations to apply for State nomination will be limited pending the outcome of the review
  • Closed means occupation is closed for invitations
