First Express Entry draw of 2020 issues 3,400 invitations to apply for permanent residence

In the first Express Entry draw of 2020, Canada has issued 3,400 invitations for permanent residence. The draw was held on Jan 8th, 2020. The minimum comprehensive ranking score in this draw was 473.

This express entry programme covers three federal high-skilled immigration programs — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class

In this, the candidate has to create an express entry profile. This profile will be given points based on different aspects. These aspects are age, education, work experience, etc. The profile will be ranked based on these points.

Higher the ranking better will be the chances of the selection of the candidate. It not mandatory for the candidate to have a job offer. But if the candidate does have a job offer then he can get some additional points.

The candidates with high scores are selected in the draw. These candidates will be sent the invitation to apply for a permanent residency visa for Canada. The processing time of PR applications received by the express entry system is normally around 6 months.

There are speculations that the target for new permanent residence applications will rise in the year 2020 as well as in the year 2021. Candidates who are not eligible for the express entry programme can always try for the provincial nominee programmes. It must be noted that 9 Canadian provinces and 2 territories have provincial nomination streams.

That is all those candidates who submitted their application on or before this tie break and had a score of 473 have been selected to apply for the permanent residency visa for Canada.
